HOYA and KENKO HMC/DMC filters are multi-coated. An un-coated filter ( HOYA GREEN LABLE AND KOOD) will only transmit about 90% of the light striking it. A single-coated filter (HOYA BLUE LABLE) improves light transmission to about 95%; HOYA and KENKO HMC/DMC filters average over 97% light transmission. You can see the difference. Photos taken using HOYA or KENKO HMC/DMC filters have greater brilliance, and richer, more pure colors.

Tips On Infared Photography

 To use the I/Red filter you will need to set all your controls to manual, you will have to compose the image before fitting the filter. You should expose for around 30-60 seconds in bright sunlight, the brighter the better as the hotter the subject the whiter it seams. This is a guide at 100 ISO so it pays to have a play, also set the camera to black and white or change on the PC afterwards as if still set on colour it will be a red image. It’s not a simple thing to master but keep trying and you will be rewarded, graveyards in the late evening summer sun can look like another world!

What happens to the light from my flash when I use a Sto-Fen diffuser? Flash with the Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce installed and tilted to 45 degrees gives a nice soft wrap around of light with a soft shadow behind the subject.
