Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at this page.
My interest has been in British hallmarked silver for quite a number of years. I love the fact that you can identify that the item is sterling silver, the manufacturer, the location of the assay office and the date of assay from just a few hallmarks.
I also find it fascinating that so much silver has survived from Georgian times, quite often in almost unused condition.
Over the last few years I have been taking an interest in Continental silver marks which, quite often, don't give you as much information as the British hallmarks although I have to say that there are some beautiful pieces from famous makers still available at very reasonable prices.
Silver makes a wonderful present, whether for Christenings, Birthdays, Anniversaries or Christmas. Sometimes it's also nice to treat yourself!
