Trading Terms
Introduction
Hi, thank you for taking the time to look at our terms. We believe that they are fair, and make it clear what we are responsible for when you purchase from us. Please see our feedback to convince yourself that we abide by these terms, and that we are fair to trade with.

Payment
We accept payments by cheque, postal order, cash or Paypal. We do not accept Bank Transfer, Western Union, Foreign Drafts, or any Credit Cards (other than through Paypal).
Cheque payments may clear your account in as little as 3 days. However, we have had notification that a cheque has bounced up to 10 days after paying in. For this reason we allow 10 days for cheques to clear. If you require the goods more quickly than this, please choose postal order, cash or Paypal.
We are happy to accept cash payments, on the understanding that this is sent at the owners risk. We recommend Special Delivery when cash is sent.
If you are paying by Postal Order, we recommend crossing each with two parallel lines and filling in the payee section (payable to Joanna Heaton). This will mean that if they get lost in the post, it will not be possible for someone to exchange them for cash.
We do accept Paypal payments for most items, please see the item listing to be sure. Our account is : joanna.heaton@ntlworld.com. High value items may be excluded, due to the high level of Paypal fees; the listing will make it clear.
Sometimes we will accept cash payments in Euros (particularly if we are going on holiday soon !). If so the item listing will state this.
Description
We try to be as accurate as possible with our descriptions and photographs. Here is an explanation of the descriptions:
- Brand New: A new and unused item in pristine condition.
- As New: The item is indistinguishable from new in any way.
- New: Unused item, which will be suitable for its intended purpose, but may have some surface marks, dust, scratches or other slight damage. Generally engineering items where their function will not be affected by those faults.
- Excellent Condition: Like as new, but can be distinguished from new due to very slight imperfections that are not readily noticeable and will have no effext on the item use.
- Good or Very Good: Fit for purpose, but with some wear that is noticeable.
- Not Tested: For spares or repair. May not work, but may. I do not use this term if I have tested the item and found it to be faulty. If this is the case, I will clearly state this.
All the items we list should be considered as used, unless the description clearly states that they are new.
Pictures
The picture is of the actual item I am selling, and this is what I will post to you no more, no less. Please be sure it is suitable for your use. Instructions are included where these are shown in the photos or mentioned in the text.
Software
Please confirm that software is suitable for your PC and operating system before purchasing. We sell software with the guarantee that it is readable from the disc, we cannot be responsible for whether it is compatible with your system.
Postage
Unless stated in the listing, all our items are for posting out, we do not offer collection.
Posting costs for smaller items sent by Royal Mail cost the same to any location in the UK. Larger items sent by Courier may be more expensive to more remote locations. We can advise you of the additional cost when you win, or please ask before bidding.
The postage fees that we charge cover collecting packing materials from our supplier, driving to the Post Office to buy stamps, Jiffy bags, tape, polystyrene packing beads (don you hate them !), and taking the parcel to the Post Office to be sent.
The AA reckon a car costs 35p per mile to drive, and we share the cost of the above across all we send.
Insurance
We only insure items where an additional insurance fee is paid, and that the service offers signature on delivery. The only insured services we use are Recorded Delivery, Special Delivery, or Courier Services. We cannot use the Royal Mail Standard Parcels services as an insured service, as no signature is required on delivery.
Due to the volume of items we send, we are not able to obtain a certificate of posting for each one. For small items, we recommend Recorded Delivery.
For any of these services, we act as your agent and whilst we will assist in any claim, we in no way accept personnel liability for the loss of any item in transit.
If your item is lost, we will arrange to claim for the recovery of the cost of the item from the carrier. You will have to help us with this. The carrier will want proof that we have been paid for the item (ie the letter from you saying that you had won the item and agreed to pay for it), and they will also write to you to check if you have received it. They will also check your local sorting office to see if it is there, although it is quicker if you do this.
When they have investigated, they will send us a cheque refund. We will immediately send it to you.
Obtaining a refund can take some time (sometimes 4-5 weeks). Please be aware of this. If you are not happy with the above, please do not buy from us.
We reserve the right to supply a replacement item in the event that the original is lost, rather than to claim from the carrier.
Returns
If you have a problem with an item you have purchased from us, please contact us within 3 days of its receipt. We will then aim to resolve the matter with you as quickly as possible.
If we ask you to return an item, please return it to us so we will normally receive it within the next seven days.
Warranty
All our items are second user and are generally purchased from auction. Some items we sell are new and where this is the case,the listing will be very clear. We do not offer a warranty on any items which we sell.
Where we have tested an item and found it to be working, we will be very clear in the listing that we have done this. All item are sold-as-seen, with no warranty, no confirmation of correct function, and no confirmation of suitability for your intended use.
DSR
We comply with the distance selling regulations. Any buyers wishing to return items under thse regulations will be responsible for the cost of the return cariage and must notify us of their intention to cancel the contract by recorded delivery within seven days of receipt of the goods.
