About Us:
Pieta Fine Art Ltd is the ebay division of our family run online gallery. We pride ourselves in having well over 50 years experience in the Art world and have traded successfully on ebay for over 4 years selling close to 9000 items. Our family background and expertise guarantees a warm, friendly, efficient and safe environment in which to purchase fine art online. We are closely associated with national museums and institutions, and work with curators in helping to fill important gaps in their collections. Previous sales have included works to Somerset House, The Pitt Rivers Museum, Lambeth Palace, The Belcher Foundation, The Chris Beetles Gallery, not to mention collectors and art lovers as far and remote as Ascension Island and French Guiana. As a gallery we aim to offer a wide variety of significant art that we enjoy and hope that you will also. We carry extensive stock and upload new works to our ebay shop daily - if you are interested in a particular artist's work which is not shown on the site please feel free to email us as we may have an example in stock.
The members of the team are:
|
Timothy Williams MA (Hons) - The youngest member of the team and the brains behind the operation (hey, I wrote this, so I can say what I like!), Timothy read for a Bachelors Degree in the History of Art at Sussex University and a subsequent Masters degree at Sussex University in 2006 with a thesis exploring the relationship between Camouflage, Art and Popular Culture. In early 2007 Timothy was awarded a Neil MacGregor Scholarship with the National Gallery, London, to research pre-1900 Dutch and Flemish Oil Paintings. He started reading for a Ph.D at Sussex University in 2008 focusing on private devotional imagery by early-modern Flemish painters. He curated the exhibition Old Masters, New Eyes at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery which ran from the 11th July 2007 till 10th February 2008, was involved in curating an exhibition on the architect Sir Basil Spence and has delivered lectures at Birbeck University, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery. Additionally Timothy has written for The Guardian newspaper and worked with the BAFTA nominated contemporary artist group Blast Theory. He has a particular interest in Modern British Art, art of the fin de siecle, early Flemish painting and Dutch golden age paintings and prints. |

Lawrence Williams - A successful artist in his own right, Lawrence has been in the business since his grandfather first took him to an auction as a child. He studied at Brighton College of Art under the supervision of Norman Clark (1913-1992) who was in turn a pupil of Walter Sickert. He has exhibited his own work widely in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. Lawrence is also a very skilled conservator, and brings many of our artworks back to near perfect condition. Additionally, he is in charge of logistics and packaging - our items are so well packed that quite frankly it annoys me that he's so good. |
Over the years we have been fortunate to acquire work direct from the studio/estates of the following artists: Harry Arthur Riley R.I (1895-1966), Carola Richards (1916-2004), Gillian Stroudley (nee Thain) (1925-1992), Frank Edward Burnham Hughes N.E.A.C (1905-1987), Norah & Edith Mackenzie, R.J.Mason (fl.1910-1940) and James Eatock amongst others. We can therefore guarantee that work we sell from these artists (even unsigned) are authentic.
If you are looking for a Painting or Print by a particular artist or of a particular subject, chances are that we will have it in stock, or we can try our best to source what you are looking for.
