Family Deeds
Family Deeds is a free to view family history website using information obtained from old deeds and documents to try to help you trace your family or local history.
Whilst in our possession full transcriptions are taken of almost all documents to preserve the information in them even when the original documents are no longer available.
For more information about the Family Deeds project including my contact details and to see if we have any online information to help you, please visit the Family Deeds website at www.familydeeds.co.uk
All proceeds from the sale of documents are used to purchase new documents for the Family Deeds website
Other Information
Document Transcriptions
Please note that whilst the documents are in my possession, a full or partial transcription will have been made of all or any of the documents. I reserve the right to sell such transcriptions before and after the original documents have been sold and I hold the copyright for all transcriptions made whilst the documents are in my possession. Such transcriptions may not be copied, published or reproduced in any format whatsoever without my prior written permission.
Condition
Whilst every effort is made to give an honest description of the condition of items sold, please be aware that these are very old items and so it is normal for there to be signs of wear and tear and age, such as creases, folds, discolouration, browning and minor imperfections that are not necessarily mentioned in the description
Export Licences
Under British and EU law, any documents over 50 years old with handwriting on them require an individual Export Licence to leave the UK regardless of their value.
The Export Licence will be applied for as soon as cleared payment is received. However it does mean that there will be a delay of approximately 4 to 5 weeks after cleared payment is received until we can dispatch the document to you whilst the necessary export documentation is obtained.
The time taken for Export Licences to be issued is beyond my control. It is the law that they must be obtained, which I abide by, and there can be severe penalties for anyone who sends a document over 50 years old out of the UK without an Export Licence.
NB. I am currently unable to apply for the Export Licences so the documents are only available to UK and Northern Ireland buyers (excluding the Channel Islands and Isle of Man) - Sorry
