We are HM Sales, a Film Prop Hire company that has been established for over 25 years. Our core business is the supply of government surplus and aircraft collectables; hire of properties for film, television and stage; dismantling, salvage and recovery of aircraft; and sales of film and television production materials. On eBay, we sell military surplus items, aircraft parts and film props. All our film props are genuine and come with a Certificate of Authentication. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we have not covered everything to your satisfaction. We like to be sure of exactly what our responsibilities are before we trade and we expect you must feel the same.
SELLING
We sell mainly Army Surplus items, aircraft parts, film props and many other miscellaneous items. Many of the items we sell are now discontinued (no longer available elsewhere) and are therefore only able to be purchased on the second-hand market at online auctions like Ebay, auctions, antiques fairs etc.
Army Surplus items
It should be noted that army surplus goods are generally used/issued - and have been in active service - and as such will have some signs of wear or use. Such items may occasionally require small repairs, and by bidding this is understood to be accepted by the buyer. However, all of the army surplus goods we sell are, apart from sometimes superficial marks, all in excellent condition and 'fit for purpose' unless otherwise stated in the listing. The colour of your item may not be exactly the same as that pictured, as they've been used! We mention this (what seems to be) obvious information simply because very rarely a buyer has expressed surprise that the goods they have received have not been in pristine, shrink-wrapped out-of-the-box, mint condition! We deal in genuine issued robust field gear, not pretend stuff from the high street! Descriptions are as clear, honest and accurate as we can possibly be. We are constantly hiring props out to production companies and often sell props that have been used - genuine Seen On Screen properties that come with a signed Certificate of Authentication.
POSTAGE
We always quote the postage charge in advance on each auction listing. Our postal charge includes: the actual price of the stamp, cost of packaging materials (we always use brand new high quality envelopes, padded bags, etc), fuel to the Post Office and parking charges as well as a handling fee. We *are* a business and we're not going to *lose* money by selling after all! If you are outside the UK and postage costs are not stated, please email us to ask for an idea of what the cost would be to your particular Country/Destination. We cannot obviously be precise as, until an item is bubble wrapped and boxed up ready for shipping we are not able to know the total weight of the parcel which is what determines the postage cost and we always like to use bigger/stronger boxes and more packaging of items that are going overseas & therefore having a longer transit time. We are also happy to combine postage on multiple purchases from us. The first item is charged at the full stated rate - any additional items will be discounted at £1.00 per item (providing there are no more than 2 days between purchases). There *are* sometimes exceptions to postage discounts, and such items will not include the 'discount available' tag next to the postage costs. Unless a listing states otherwise, collection in person is *not* possible. Please check this before bidding!
Higher value items will require online trackable postage, which will protect both the Buyer and the Seller in that transaction. We always obtain Proof of Posting when sending items, which proves when the item was sent and also provides free insurance cover worldwide up to £30 for any loss/damage in transit. Should any item become lost in transit we will refund the Buyer and we will make the relevant claim from the postal service company used. However, these days the postal services are extremely good and items rarely become lost.
We send all our items via Paypal, so you will also recieve an email postage receipt direct from Paypal when your item is sent. We pack items extremely well and use bubble wrap, polystyrene chips, boxes, jiffy bags, fragile tape etc as each item sold dictates to ensure that it arrives at its destination in the same condition that it left us. We are happy to post Worldwide on most items - there are exceptions to this simply by virtue of the exhorbitant cost of sending heavy items overseas.
We dispatch items twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Sundays. If an item is not paid for by the day before our mailout, it will be sent on the next available date (ie, if you buy an item and pay for it by the Monday, it will be sent on the same Wednesday, but if it is paid for on the Tuesday, it will be sent the next Sunday. However, due to our not being able to get to stock over the weekend, if your item is paid for by the end of Thursday, it will be posted on Sunday, if paid for after Thursday, it will be posted the following Wednesday). If an item is not paid for by two days after the end of the auction, we will send you a payment reminder, and again two days after that. Unfortunately, due to problems with some buyers in the past, if there has still been no communication by the end of seven days, we will issue an official eBay Unpaid Item Reminder, which usually is the first step to opening an Unpaid Item Dispute.
IMPORTANT: If a winning bidder on an item listed for collection has less than 10 positive feedback, we will require a 50% deposit paid via Paypal before collection is possible. On higher value items (ie, over £100), the deposit MUST be paid within 2 days of the auction ending. There must ALSO be contact from the winning bidder within 24 hours of the auction ending - this is a condition of ANY listing bid on by an eBayer with less than 10 positive feedback. This is - due to past problems with a very few new eBayers - completely non-negotiable. Potential bidders with zero or less feedback MUST contact us before bidding, or any bids will be cancelled. Collection is NOT normally possible unless otherwise stated in the listing. If you wish to collect, you MUST ask us if it's ok before you bid. If, in these circumstances, collection is agreed, you will be expected to cover our costs in arranging this. This is because our items are not in a generally open shop, but in a depot that is not open to the general public at which we would have to provide a staff member to hand over the goods to you.
All this may seem heavy-handed, but we need to keep our stock moving and there's only so long you can wait! If there's a problem, TALK to us - we'll do our utmost to help you resolve any issues.
MISC
Where listings include very specific information about an item, for example, mileage of a vehicle, we quote directly from official documents available to us (which are included in the sale), such as MOT certificates.
FEEDBACK
