BELTANE DESIGNS is a one man Artisan Craft Business established for over 30 years(1977).Making Handcrafted leather and Jewellery and other metal items.
Whats in the name - Beltane (light-fire) is The first day of May an Ancient Celtic Fire festival heralding the end of Winter and the flowering of Spring and Summer.To name a business that makes BELTS from NATURAL TANNED Leather with the design emphesis on the Beautiful Celtic Art Heritage of the British Isles.
The hope is to light a fire in your imagination as much as to sell my products.Take a look at the wonderous works of the Book of Kells and Lindisfarne Gospels.Many of the designs require a magnifying glass to appreciate the detail.
THE WORKSHOP Originally established in the SEREN CENTRE Craft workshops in Bala Gwynedd North Wales in 1977 Primarily a Pottery Craft complex and Art Gallery which had Jewellery Weaving and My own Leathercraft workshop.Returning in 1984 to my home town of Birmingham with its heritage of 1001 trades. There are still a few left!
The Craft Movement was thriving in those days and many people had chosen to work with the traditional crafts skills either because they were made Redundant from British Industry in its post Industial decline or had chosen an independant life style based on their personal Artistic skills.
30 years on Im still as keen as ever to make nice things for people and is proud of the craft heritage started all those years back.
Most of the tools I use are handmade in my own workshop from intricate metalwork.It was impossible to find anyone to produce them at a realistic price or which would last but the the real point was to make everthing myself from scratch .The Unique end product you see is the result of many hours spent over the drawing board designing and making and even longer hours setting up shop in Muddy Fields, Rally Grounds and Shows throughout the UK.in order to make a living.
Ebay promises to be a light on the horizon for individual Craftspeople to market their wares on the personal contact level and for contact with other Trading Business.
Ham Radio has been one of my hobbies for many years and I have had to reduce some of my personal collection of items hoarded over the years. You may see from time to time selections of electronic items on ebay.
