ABOUT DRUM & FLAG
Drum & Flag is a full time specialist toy soldier mail order business trading here on eBay.co.uk. The business is just a one man show (ie me) which enables a personal level of service to be provided whilst also striving to maintain the professional standards of a larger concern.
The eBay shop is now in it's fourth year and in that time parcels have been sent to over 70 countries around the world with positive feedback ratings received now over the 17000 mark. There is also a companion hobby information and gallery site at www.drumandflag.com.
Core stock includes 1/72, 1/32 & 28mm scale plastic figures & accessories, Del Prado figures & booklets, wargames scenery & terrain, Lord of the Rings figures and Vallejo Game Color acrylic paints. Whilst most stock is brand new some interesting collectable items are also often sold at the weekly auctions I run from time to time which usually finish on Sunday evenings between 6-7pm UK time.
I offer a flexible returns policy and always work with customers to resolve any problems should they arise.

It always interests me to see where folk are from, particularly if I am a posting a parcel to somewhere I have visited. Before I opened Drum & Flag I was fortunate enough to have a job that involved a lot of travel - most of it in Europe but some elsewhere. Over the past few years I have posted over 30 hobby guides up on eBay's Reviews & Guides Section. These mainly cover painting, wargaming and collecting (Del Prado, Lord of the Rings, Plastic Figures).

FAQ's
Q. Do you combine shipping?
A. Yes. Under the P&P and Payments tab on my listings you can enter the quantity and country you live in in the QUANTITY and CHANGE COUNTRY boxes. This will then auto-calculate the shipping for your destination - usually this is correct but you can double check it with me if you wish and I will also look out for any over payments my end of things.
Things get more complicated if you order many different items. The total shipping charge will come to the price of the stamp related to however much the box or boxes weigh that your items will be sent in, plus usually no more than 1 GBP towards materials and handling.
Ideally customers should request a total from me before checking out to avoid over paying P&P. But it's no problem if you go ahead and pay without doing so as I can refund you any excess when your items are processed for despatch if need be.
Q. How much does it cost to ship items to my country?
A. On each of my listings you can find this information under the P&P and Payment Tab. Simply enter the quantity you want (of the same item) in the Quantity box and select your country from the drop down menu in the Change Country box. Then click Get Rates and the details will show below. This is an automated calculator for identical items only and sometimes* it may quote too high a price, where this is the case I will either manually adjust it before you pay or refund you any excess if you have already paid. (* It may for example calculate the cost of 3 items correctly but not 10).
As mentioned in the previous question things get more complicated if you are buying several different items - you can contact me for a quote in these cases before pressing BUY or click request total from seller for a manual invoice if you have already clicked BUY or leave me to refund you any excess if you go ahead and pay anyway.
Q. What do I do if my parcel has not arrived?
A. If after a reasonable period of time (eg at least UK 1 week from despatch, Europe 2 weeks, Rest of World 3 Weeks) your parcel has not arrived the first step should be to check your local postal depot, any neighbours and your own back gate or outbuildings etc.... This is because in my experience the vast majority of missing parcels turn up in these places. This is usually because delivery was attempted whilst you were out and the postman either forgot to leave a card saying so or the card was accidentally thrown out as junk mail. Meaning that you do not know that your parcel is sitting on a shelf in the postal sorting office or at your neighbours house or left by your back gate etc... If this yields nothing please contact me.
Q. What do I do if I don't like the item I received or change my mind and simply don't want it?
A. Contact me to say you are returning the item in resaleable condition and would like a refund for the cost of the item. Please do this within 2 weeks of receiving the item.
Q. What do I do if I receive a damaged or imperfect or otherwise not as described item?
A. Most parcels arrive safely and most manufacturers produce products to a good standard. But inevitably some parcels get a rough ride in the post and some items have production faults etc..If this happens please contact me to work out a solution you are happy with.
Q. Do you stock this item?
A. The easiest way to find out if I stock an item you are looking for is to enter key words (eg Italeri French / Vallejo Roman / Del Prado 63 / AIrfix 1/32 scale / Hannibal etc) into my eBay store search box. All relevant results will then be displayed for you. Note I mean my eBay store search box and not the wider eBay search although my items will be on here too.
You can also use the period (eg Napoleonic) search links at the top of the store home page and the category links down the side. You can of course also just message me.
"Missing stock" - It is one of the many challenges of running an online store to make sure your stock tallies. Clearly it's vital to physically have in stock what you have live on eBay. It is also nearly as important to have on eBay what you have in stock! Otherwise you happily think your item is displayed to the world and month after month it sits gathering dust on the shelf and racks up no sales because it is not live after all.
With over 2500 different items it inevitably means some of my items fall into this stock "Bermuda Triangle". The solution is rigorous stock checking procudures but these take a lot of precious time so it is not always easy to stay on top of it.
Naturally many items will be in and out of stock for a few days as they are bought and sold and some will go out of production. But if you regularly search for an item and I never have it it may be that it too is a missing overlooked set. So please message me to enquire in these circumstances and by doing so you may be able to help me ensure the best possible stock range is on display for all Drum & Flag's customers.
Q. Do you attend shows? / Have a bricks & mortar shop? / Have a contact phone number ?
A. I do not attend any shows. Serving my customers on eBay currently takes up all my time. I do not have a bricks & mortar store although I did have one for a couple of years in Warwick, UK in 2002-04. I do not issue a contact phone number as it is quicker and easier for me to deal with customer enquiries via email rupert@drumandflag.com and eBay messages.
Q. What payment methods do you accept?
A. This depends on where you live. For UK customers Paypal, Postal Orders and Cheques. For everywhere else Paypal only please. I can also accept IBAN payments from customers in Continental Europe.
I do not have facilities to directly accept credit or debit cards although you can pay with these via Paypal.
Paypal e-cheques and paper cheques can take 7-10 working days to clear so please factor that in to your thinking when paying with these methods.
