What do we sell ?

At the Container Clearance company we specialise in solid hardwood Furniture, we do not sell pine or other cheap timbers.

What about the quality of our products ?

Very important, our products are made by some of the worlds finest cabinetmakers, they are handmade by skilled craftsmen and only the finest treated and seasoned timbers are used.

These are not mass produced items and are not produced for the UK wholesale market**(see below).

All our items are 100% brand new in original unspoiled packaging. We do not sell seconds or damaged items, Please note that we do sell items under the distressed banner so please read info below on distressed furniture.



What makes The Container Clearance Company different?

Currently we are very fortunate to have an exclusive contract with one of worlds finest and largest cabinetmakers. Our contract allows us to have first refusal on all cancelled orders, overstock orders, bankrupt orders, delayed shipping orders etc that are supplied to some of the very best known department stores and furniture retailers in 13 countries worldwide. Put simply, we will recieve a call from our supplier if a container of furniture has been made and for whatever reason the retailer can no longer take it, we will be offered these items at massively reduced prices.

We have recently also secured exclusivity of more contemporary ranges made from solid oak.

How does this benefit our customers ?

Price

If we were to buy products of this quality from UK wholesalers or direct from the supplier on a one at time basis you would pay approximately four times these prices.

Quality

To use seasoned quality timber and a skilled workforce is very expensive for the manufacturers, in turn a lot of Indian manufacturers will use poor quality timbers and unseasoned or untreated timbers to keep their prices down. They will use an unskilled workforce with very poor facilities. The resulting poor quality furniture is supplied to UK wholesalers who in turn supply to UK retailers. This means that the majority of the UK public are buying poor quality items in order to keep the prices to an affordable level as extra profit is added at each stage of the process.

Speed of delivery

Over 80% of our items are advertised when we have them in stock and after customs clearance, we despatch to our customers within seven working days of purchase, usually despatched within 72 hours if possible.

If we do not have it in stock we will mention on the ad the expected dock date of the container, please allow up to 21 days after docking for customs clearance etc.

Exclusive Lines

Many of the items that we are offered are exclusive designs for some very big furniture names worldwide. Some of these items will not be available to the Uk market and are setting trends worldwide. Some of the items are available in the UK but are exclusive to one particular retailer and usually very expensive. We would also add that generally the quality of our furniture is above most uk based retailers.

Disclaimer

It is virtually impossible to 100% portray colours of natural wood products in a picture on the web, from batch to batch colours can vary as indeed from piece to piece the same can be said. If you are buying to match an existing piece in your home, we have endeavoured to give the best portarayal of the colour but please do not assume that the pictures are 100% accurate re colour. We cannot accept colour or shade differences as faults. As a rule dark items look lighter in the flesh and light items look darker in the flesh.

If you are unhappy with your purchase because of a shade difference or indeed any other reason we are more than willing if informed within 7 days to offer a full refund , however all carriage and collection costs will be at at the buyers expense. This will generally be your original postage rate plus the same rate again as a collection fee levied by the carriers. However on occasions if it is a very large item bought we may have subsidised your delivery fee, if this is the case we will aks the buyer for the actual cost of return and delivery.

Due to the way we buy, every item must be treated as a one off. We may obtain one, we may obtain twenty. Under these trading conditions it is not feasible to have a website as stock availability changes so quickly. We also sell these items to contract, hotels, business's, trade venues etc and stock generally goes very rapidly.

If we offer at e-bay auction we will always keep items to one side to fulfill the order of the winning bidder. However it is very important not to presume that we have more than one available unless specifically stated, if you need a second matching item please e-mail ahead and if we have one it will be reserved until the end of the auction.

Please note that on occasions our supplier will alter the designs of the items slightly to suit different markets, we are not always informed of this from batch to batch so on rare occasions you may find a small design change from the picture, due to the way we buy we cannot accept these as faults but as mentioned above you have the right to cancel with all postage costs being at the buyers expense.

We really hope to offer the best service possible but sometimes things like shade differences and small design changes are out of our control due to the way we buy, if this is a concern to you we ask you not to bid on our items to avoid disputes afterwards.

We will list everything we are able to sell to the public via e-bay, we recieve 100's of e-mails per week asking for other items. The general rule of thumb is if it is available it will be in "view sellers other items". If we are not listing it then we do not have it.

Distressed and Rustic Furniture

Please bear in mind that when you are purchasing our furniture you are buying handmade furniture where varying degrees of distressing is generally applied. This is very much intended and makes each piece totally individual as desired by the craftsmen. We sell only genuine rustic designs with varying degrees of distressing from piece to piece,this may involve wood splits, filling, knots, purpose distress marks. The basic desire is to give the piece the lived in look and this is usual with the majority of our furniture.Please take care to research distressing further as to avoid any disputes after purchase.

This is also an advantage for the future use of your furniture as bumps and bruises are not so noticeable as on highly polished clones. Any small bumps or bruises can very easily in turn be rectified.

If a highly polished clone is required then you may be better looking for the wholesale versions.

Money back Guarantee

We will accept cancellataion of delivered orders providing you inform us in writing( e-mail) within 7 days of delivery. All costs re the delivery and collection will be at the buyers expense. Please note that on occasions we may subsidise your orignal delivery fee, if the sale is cancelled we will reserve the right to refund less the actual cost of delivery and collection. All items must be in the original wrappings and unused, therefore we make special mention to be very careful when unwrapping the items to keep the wraps intact. This regulation is put in place to allow you the consumer a closer inspection of the item first hand as you bought this item"at a distance" but also allows us the seller to be able to re sell the item as brand new. If the item is not resellable as new when returned we will not issue a refund.

Put basically we offer a no quibble refund policy, however in all cases the actual carriage costs will be paid by the buyer, if this is not agreeable respectfully please do not bid on our items.

Important points on the Uk wholesale Indian Furniture Market**

We feel it is prudent to explain a little more about the Uk wholesale market.

The most popular question we are asked is why can two tables that look so alike be so different in price.

The simple answer is "the quality".

You will generally find if you shop in a well known department store that you will pay what seems to be a high price for an item that looks similar to one sold in catalogue's or the internet at a third of the price. The department stores have to sell at mucher higher prices as the cost to them is very high due to the supplier using quality timbers and quality craftsmen ultimately giving you a quality product. These department stores also obviously have very high overheads with staff and advertising etc.

It is very tempting for the department stores to cut corners on quality in order to reduce prices, however you will not stay loyal to them as a customer if your product does not meet expectations, therefore the quality is generally extremely good.

A very popular way to reduce the prices is to have the items produced from poor quality unseasoned and quickly grown timbers. The furniture is then made by unskilled workers with appauling facilities and conditions.(sweatshops) These are quite common in India and result in over 90% of the Indian furniture products in the UK being made this way. These items are mass produced and sold in bulk to UK wholesalers who then sell on to UK retailers at a significant profit.

It is worth making the point that 90% of retailers who tell you that they buy direct are actually buying this poor quality furniture from uk wholesalers!!

This process ultimately results in you buying a poor quality item that has had profit added for the wholesaler and profit added for the retailer.

If bought cheaply enough this will initially seem like a bargain, however the problem is 6-12 months down the line when the timbers and poorly assembled joints will dry out and shift or crack, rendering the item next to useless.

We at the container clearance company are very fortunate that not only do we buy direct from quality cabinetmakers, but we also retain massive bargaining power as the supplier needs to sell completed containers quickly.

We are very vigorous with our expectations of the quality of our products and our advice to you would be to look very carefully at what we have to offer. If we do not have anything to suit your needs then please pay the extra and buy from a reputable source such as John Lewis, Next, Harrods and other well known quality furniture retailers. In the long term you are always better to pay for quality, rather than taking a risk on a wholesale version.

All our items are shipped from a central warehouse, this means that we cannot facilitate customer collections.
