Douglas' art career started with one sale on eBay, blessed through the overwhelming encouragement of the eBay community!
Artwork Along with charcoal sticks and pencils Douglas draws with oil pastels which look like crayons but are made of pigment mixed with non-drying oil and wax binder. Douglas' original drawings are captured using a high resolution digital scan.
Archival quality giclee prints Giclée" means a spray or a spurt of liquid in French; "gicler" meaning "to squirt". A giclee print is a high quality ink jet print. The quality of the giclee print rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries. In the production Douglas' artwork is printed on archival-quality watercolor paper with archival-quality inks.
Still-lifes of WDCC scupltures Douglas' unauthorized homage to this fine art sculpture series began when he wanted the WDCC to produce backdrops from the films to go with the pieces he owned, and eventually drew them himself. He 'fell into' sharing them on eBay and any time he had not listed, he had emails asking the likes of, "Can you put this one up again?" or "Have you drawn this or that figurine?" Douglas believes that eBay is a platform for people's gifts to make room for them; and from his experience, bring what they have to a vast group of appreciative people. Since then Douglas has even been commissioned to draw a WDCC sculpture by an authorized dealer in England and is excited about more doors opening soon.
