Cotton for kids

We started out as average, caring parents looking for good-quality cotton clothes for our children to wear to school. When we found that many items of schoolwear were unavailable in pure cotton, we decided to have some made. They proved so popular with our children and our friendschildren that we began manufacturing dresses and selling them through the office of our children primary school. Pretty soon, parents from other schools were phoning with orders of their own.
We travel far and wide to personally select the best quality cotton for our schoolwear. The gingham we use, for example, is the highest quality mill-made Indian cotton. Lower-grade cotton requires chemical treatments to make it easy to iron. This cotton is 100% pure, free from any chemical additives, made to such a high quality that it is naturally easy to iron.
It also hardwearing, machine washable (on a higher setting than polyester, so easier to remove stains) and extremely comfortable. Our daughter has been wearing these dresses for two years now. She loves the cool, soothing feel of pure cotton on her skin on summer days when the sun comes beating through the classroom window. We love the way her dresses look and feel as good as new after two years of machine washing.

Our daughter friend, who suffers from eczema and allergies, loves being able to concentrate on her schoolwork and play without the constant distractions of itchy, irritated skin. Cotton clothing is recommended for eczema sufferers by the British Association of Dermatologists.
We took great care in choosing the factory to make these dresses. We visited a Tibetan refugee community in India with a long tradition of quality tailoring. The factory is run by fashion design graduate Kalden Dorjee, a Tibetan exile who employs other Tibetan refugees. We have visited the factory several times and found it a well-run and happy workplace, with a reputation for quality. When they are not making regulation UK schoolwear to our designs, they make haute couture items for French fashion houses.
This year, having just won the Guardian/eBay Business Sense Challenge, we are stepping up production and planning to introduce school dresses in other colours, and other items of schoolwear in 100% pure cotton, without compromising on quality. We will never lose sight of our original idea: to find something good for our children to wear to school.
